After working the 1.0, then the 1.5 for about 6 months, I felt I was ready for the 2.0. Almost, but not quite! I can 10-rep the 1.5 with no trouble, but can get the 2.0 to within only 1/2 an inch of closure, and that's with my dominant hand. (I've only had it 2 days). Back to the 1.5 drawing board for a while longer, but I'm confident it'll come.

Regardless, the CoC grippers have seriously increased my grip strength for weight training. I chuckle, now, when I see guys who can bench twice what I can wrapping straps around their wrists to do barbell shrugs at 250, or dumbbell shrugs with 90's. If they only knew!

Best Fitness BFOB10 Olympic Bench

... I hate going to the gym because my local gym always has people using up all the benches. I never get a good workout in, because I can only use the machines, which are the only things available. I like being able to workout at my own convenience, so I shopped around for a bench.

I was looking for a bench that could do flat/incline presses and not take up too much space.

This was the only one I found that folded up. For the price I saw on Amazon, I was a bit hesitant. Not only was it cheap, it was eligible for free prime shipping as well, so I was a bit skeptical because shipping alone for this probably cost $40. The reviews were better than the other benches so I went for it.

When I opened the box, it looked like the box just exploded in my room and all I saw was a thousand nuts/bolts, and some metal bars. I was scared to death because the instructions were only 4 pages long, and it was very intimidating at first glance. After about a half hour though, I could see the bench starting to come together, and it was fairly easy to put together. As another reviewer mentioned, there was a mistake with one of the steps, but its easy to catch.

It's exactly as I had wanted, and it folds up like a dream. The leg attachment is probably the bulkiest part when folded up, but it's not that big of an issue.

There is NO decline on this bench though. The lowest it will go is flat, then it goes three steps ascending slightly. Since this bench has been in my room, I've gone from inclining 95lbs to 125lbs in three weeks. It's amazing, because I was barely able to bench 100lbs, and now I can do 3 sets of 8 @ 125lbs. When I get to a point where I want to take a break or a commercial is on TV, I'll just do a few reps here and there. I feel like I'm starting to plateau a bit, but I'm still pushing myself to go even higher and hope to get up to 160 (all the weights I have).

I noticed another reviewer pointed out the back of the seat isn't that great for short people. I'm 145lbs @ 5'5" and I did notice it at first, but after a week of ownership, I don't even realize what the issue is anymore.

All in all I think this is a great bench, and is competitively priced. Why go through the trouble of getting one at a B&M store when you can get something shipped directly to your house, for free! ...

If you have access to a welding machine like i do, you can spot weld the joints and the frame becomes rock solid. I can still unbolt mine into left/right halves for moving if i have to. I welded the dip and pull up bars too. When the frame is stabilized like this, you can do serious workouts. By a margin, this is the best designed personal gym. In addition to the obvious exercises, i can do calf-raises, hanging knee raises. handstand pushups, more. All exercises are accessible from the front so you can put it in a room corner. This is not a commercial product, but the thickness of metal used is good enough for personal use. For the money this IS the "poor mans" gym!

The band can be made more challenging by changing how you hold it. Don't forget the jump rope needs "assembly" before use - watch the DVD extra to learn your ideal length, then unscrew the handles and take a look at the black knob at the end of the rope. Push it back until it is the right length and secure it at both ends with the small black plastic hood. Cut off the extra length.

I like the workout options - approx. 10 minutes each of core, arms, legs, jump rope. Or the whole thing straight through for 45 minutes. I choose to focus on one area a day and mix it with the jump rope. For example: core, jump rope, core, jump rope, core, jump rope. Three sets for both the jump rope section and the strength training section is about right. That way you can do it every day (while traveling) and let some muscle groups rest.

Didn't have a problem with the instructor. Focus on the voice and not as much watching the moves on tv - seems fine.
